The Delegation of the European Union to Namibia have agreed to extend their strategic roadmap on renewable hydrogen and sustainable raw material value chains for another five years, until the end of 2030.
The EU Commissioner of Environment, Water Resilience & a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, made the remarks during the second Namibia-EU Business Forum in Windhoek, on Tuesday.
Roswall said the extension builds on the 2023 agreement between the two partners, and is aimed at strengthening cooperation in green industrialisation, renewable hydrogen and critical raw materials.
“We have formally agreed with the Government of Namibia to extend that roadmap for five more years, until 2030,” she said.
She expressed that Africa’s resilience is Europe’s resilience and vice versa, noting whether it’s in the areas of water, green hydrogen or critical raw materials.
“That means translating our strategic alignment into concrete economic outcomes like factories, jobs, skills and revenues that reach Namibian communities,” she said.
The EU-Namibia Strategic Partnership RoadMap was launched by President von der Leyen and President Geingob in 2023 May, ahead of the Global Gateway Forum which was held in Brussels in October the same year. FUTURE MEDIA
