The World Bank Group has appointed Italian  Stefano Mocci as Country Manager for Namibia, effective July 1, 2026.

Mocci will lead the World Bank Group’s engagement in the country across its three institutions which  the World Bank (IBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), working closely with the Government of Namibia, the private sector, civil society, and development partners.

“I am honored to take up this role at an important moment for Namibia, as the country implements NDP6 and pursues its development priorities across sectors,” said Mocci,

He added that “Guided by our Country Partnership Framework, a closely aligned Bank Group approach will help us support projects and advance the jobs agenda for inclusive and sustainable prosperity for the people of Namibia.”

In a statement on Tuesday the  World Bank Group said it  is working with public and private sector partners to improve the government’s capacity to design and implement policy in strategic areas, increase the private sector’s ability to generate jobs and income, and position Namibia’s economic growth on a greener, more resilient and inclusive trajectory.

Prior to this role, Mocci served as World Bank Group country manager for Fiji and the South Pacific and as the World Bank country manager for Papua New Guinea. He has also held field-based posts in both middle-income countries and fragile, conflict, and violence-affected states, including as Senior Country Officer and Senior Operations Officer in the Middle East and North Africa Region, where he oversaw the quality and delivery of the World Bank’s program, maintaining close relationships with national authorities and key stakeholders in the West Bank and Gaza, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria.

Mocci brings more than 20 years of experience across the World Bank Group, spanning the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, he worked as a governance programme officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The World Bank Group operates in  more than 100 countries providing financing, advice, and innovative solutions that improve lives by creating jobs, strengthening economic growth, and confronting the most urgent global development challenges.
