Namibians spent about N$468 million (approximately US$26 million) on cigarette imports in 2024, a research firm says.
It also shows that Namibians spent about N$104 million (approximately US$5.8 million) on vaping products.
Cirus says cigarettes still dominate Namibia’s tobacco import bill.
According to their recent analysis, cigarettes catered for about two-thirds of the total tobacco import bill between 2010 and 2024.
However this is down from 90% of the bill recorded in the early part of 2010.
