The Ministry of Finance has appointed NamPost as the official service provider responsible for the cash distribution of social grants across the country effective 1 October.
A statement released by the ministry’s spokesperson Wilson Shikoto on Tuesday said under the new arrangement, all social grant recipients who reside within town / settlement will collect their grants directly from the nearest NamPost office.
“ Only those living in areas beyond the five-kilometre radius will continue to receive their grants through NamPost’s mobile outreach and delivery services,” Shikoto said.
He said the the change is aimed at improving service efficiency, enhancing financial inclusion, and ensuring consistent access to social grants for all qualifying recipients.
“NamPost’s national presence and infrastructure make it well-positioned to deliver a reliable and streamlined grants payment system.
“All current grant beneficiaries are advised to attend the regional meetings for detailed information on these changes. Further details about specific payment schedules and collection locations will be communicated in due course through radio, print media, and community engagement efforts,” He said.
Shikoto said the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with NamPost, remains committed to ensuring that
no recipient is left behind and that the rollout of this new service model is done in an orderly and accessible manner.
