NAMIBIA is poised to make a significant impact at the 7th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit (AYTIS) and Challenge, scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from June 24th to 27th, 2025.
With three prominent Namibian figures billed as speakers and three innovative youth projects reaching the top 20 finalists, the nation is demonstrating its commitment to shaping the future of African tourism.

The summit, hosted by South African Tourism with the Namibia Tourism Board as a strategic partner, will convene under the theme: “Offering actionable solutions for Africa’s travel tech, tourism innovation, entrepreneurship and youth employability.” This theme resonates strongly with Namibia’s national development goals, emphasizing the critical role of innovation and youth empowerment in driving economic growth.

The esteemed line-up of Namibian speakers includes:

Albertus Aochamub, Namibian Ambassador to France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Monaco, and Permanent Delegate of Namibia to UNESCO, OECD, BIE, CPLP, UNWTO. His participation underscores Namibia’s diplomatic efforts to promote its tourism sector on the global stage and foster international collaboration.
Linda Mupupa, Public Relations, Sales and Marketing Executive at Swakopmund Municipality. Her insights will highlight the local government’s role in tourism development and the importance of community engagement in creating sustainable tourism experiences.
Sebulon Chicalu, Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Tourism Board. As the head of the national tourism body, Mr. Chicalu’s presence signifies Namibia’s strategic vision for its tourism industry and its dedication to fostering a competitive and innovative environment.
Beyond the insightful discussions from these leaders, Namibia’s vibrant youth are also making their mark in the Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge. Three exceptional Namibian youths have been selected among the top 20 finalists, a testament to the nation’s burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit and innovative capacity. These finalists are:

Ndaudika Mulundileni (Mindsinaction Steam Centre)
Octavious Maketo (Ubuntu Aquatics)
Andreas Leonard (Exploradio Audio Guide Namibia)
These young innovators are currently participating in an intensive boot camp, receiving mentorship and refining their projects in preparation for the highly anticipated 2025 Pitch Battle – Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge Demos & Lab, scheduled for June 24th. Their projects, alongside those from other African nations, are set to showcase groundbreaking solutions that embody the summit’s focus on travel tech, tourism innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The AYTIS 2025 Summit promises a dynamic programme, including MICE Masterclasses for youth and entrepreneurs, B2B sessions, speed marketing, one-on-one meetings, and career guidance clinics. This comprehensive approach aims to bridge the gap between emerging professionals and seasoned experts, fostering intergenerational collaboration and equipping young Africans with future-proof skills.
