Egypt, Namibia strengthen ties

Egypt and Namibia are keen to strengthen bilateral and cooperation in the future.

This was revealed after the Egyptian  Ambassador to Namibia, Ramia Shawky paid a courtesy call to  Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare on Monday.

Ambassador Shawky resumed her duties on 31 October 2025. 

The meeting was also  attended by senior government officials, including the Deputy Ministers of International Relations and Trade, and Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, as well as the Ministers of Justice and Labour Relations, and Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform

The meeting highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two countries, rooted in Egypt’s support for Namibia’s liberation struggle in the 1960s and formalized through diplomatic relations in 1990. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.

The discussions focused on a wide range of priority areas aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation including; green hydrogen and renewable energy, agriculture and agro-processing, infrastructure development, the medical and pharmaceutical sector, education and capacity building, trade facilitation and value addition.

Ngurare reiterated Namibia’s principled stance on respecting territorial integrity and condemned any acts that undermine sovereignty. He also reaffirmed Namibia’s longstanding support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
