The government has officially gazetted the Appropriation Amendment Act, allowing changes to funding allocations across ministries to ensure key national priorities are funded for the rest of the 2025/2026 financial year.

The Act was passed by Parliament and signed by the President on 17 November 2025.

The amendment updates the original Appropriation Act, 2025 (Act No. 2 of 2025), changing the schedule of appropriated amounts for several government offices and sectors.

The amendment saw the  President’s office allocation increase from N$1,458,162,00 to N$1,463,162,000, while the Prime Minister’s office rose from N$635,966,000 to N$666,266,000.

The National Assembly also received a boost from N$398,208,000 to N$443,208,000.

Other key changes include: Health and Social Services: N$12,268,372,000 to N$12,295,522,000 Finance: N$14,601,283,000 to N$14,409,003,000 (a decrease), Education: N$24,827,230,000 to N$25,555,207,000

Some ministries experienced reduced funding, including Labour Relations (N$250,256,000 to N$238,556,000) and Mines, Energy and Industry (N$939,487,000 to N$851,614,000). Overall, the total amended budget now stands at N$89,414,983,000, almost unchanged from the original N$89,414,984,000.

The Government Gazette explains that the amendments are “to increase and decrease certain amounts of money in the Schedule to [the Appropriation Act] to meet the financial requirements of the State during the remainder of the year ending 31 March 2026.”

This adjustment demonstrates the government’s effort to align resources with national priorities, ensuring key sectors are properly funded for service delivery and development objectives.
