Namibia has launched an investment guide – a move described by the Minister of International Relations and Trade Selma Ashipala Mausvyi as vital in creating policy certainty and clarity for both local and international investors.

The guide focuses on seven key pillars  which are vital in assisting investors to decide and navigate the investment terrain in the country.

The pillars will be well explained in volumes including volume giving an overview of the country profile,  investment climate , starting and operating a business in Namibia, immigration and labour Regulations, tax laws in Namibia , banking and foreign currency regulations and Land Regulations and Access.

Ashipala Musavyi in a speech delivered for her by her deputy Jenelly Matundu said, “ The investment guide is a key to assist investors have a clear and consistent policy understanding about the Namibian investment clarity.”

NIPDB Acting Chief Executive Officer Jessica Hauuanga said the  guide will  strengthen the ease of doing business in Namibia, predictability and competitiveness as an investment destination, by reducing uncertainty which can be a barrier to entry.

“Looking at the Foreign Direct Investment figures recorded over the past five years, it is clear that our collective efforts to promote Namibia as a place to invest in are yielding results. With this guide in place as a trusted source of credible information for both foreign and domestic investors, we are confident that investors will now have the necessary information to make informed decisions, faster,” she said.

She said the multi-stakeholder collaborative approach  used to compile the guide is a powerful demonstration of a shared ambition to elevate Namibia’s competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic global economy.

“We acknowledge that the global investment landscape is constantly changing, and to retain our competitiveness, it is imperative for Namibia to remain agile in responding to these winds of change. The Namibia Investment Guide is therefore not cast in stone and will remain a living set of documents. We had to start somewhere,” she said
