Former Deputy Minister of Finance Maureen Hinda-Mbuende has been appointed Acting Managing National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR.
She replaces outgoing Acting Managing Director, Victoria Sibeya who will now focus on the upstream petroleum portfolio.
The appointment is effective from 25 August 2025 and will last for a period of six months.
A statement from the company said her appointment follows a recommendation and endorsement from the Government as part of its continued support to NAMCOR, aimed at providing the necessary resources to stabilise its operations and strengthen the company’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.
“With a strong background in finance, internal audit, governance, and institutional management, Hinda-Mbuende brings a wealth of experience from the private and public sectors,” the statement said.
Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister and minister of Industries and Mines Natangue Ithete said Hinda-Mbuende has experience, knowledge, courage and determination which will steer NAMCOR through this current “not so easy” chapter.
He said she will lead the entity toward greater efficiency, innovation, and national impact.
“In the same light, with deep appreciation and respect, I extend sincere gratitude to Ms. Victoria Sibeya, the outgoing Acting Managing Director for her dedicated service to NAMCOR and people of Namibia. We take the moment to thank and celebrate the milestones she leaves behind,” Ithete said.
Hinda-Mbuende holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa.
She has served as Deputy Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Deputy Minister of International Relations, Regional Manager: Central at the National Housing Enterprise, and Manager of Finance at the then City Savings & Investment Bank. She has served on a number of Boards including Agricultural Bank of Namibia and Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA).
