The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has appointed executive upstream development and production, Mtundeni Ndafyaalako, as acting managing director effective 1 March 2026.
The appointment follows the conclusion of Ms Maureen Hinda-Mbuende’s tenure as interim managing director on 28 February 2026 after six months in the role.
Namcor said Hinda-Mbuende provided leadership to the organisation and contributed to advancing its strategic objectives and operational priorities during her tenure. The board of directors and staff expressed gratitude for her commitment and service, and wished her well in her future endeavours.
Ndafyaalako’s appointment will remain in effect pending the conclusion of the ongoing recruitment process for a substantive managing director.
Ndafyaalako joined Namcor in 2018 as a geoscientist and progressed to manager of new ventures before assuming his current position as executive upstream development and production. He has nearly two decades of experience in the oil and gas sector locally and internationally.
The Namcor board said it is confident that his experience and leadership will ensure continuity as the corporation continues to deliver on its mandate.
Since joining Namcor, Ndafyaalako has held several technical and leadership roles and contributed to advancing the corporation’s upstream portfolio and strategic initiatives.
His qualifications include a master of business administration in accounting and finance and a master of science in petroleum geology from the University of Namibia, a bachelor of science in geological engineering from the High Institute of Mining-Metallurgy of Moa, and a senior management development programme from the Stellenbosch Business School.
