THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has recorded a significant increase in the number of tip offs on tax evaders in the past three months.
NamRA spokesperson Tonateni Shidhudhu told Namibia Business Review on Thursday that the agency has recorded a notable increase in whistleblower activity during the first quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, with 37 reports received between April and June 2025.
This number represents an increase from 25 recorded in the previous quarter.
“These tip-offs, predominantly related to tax evasion (54.05%), followed by other fraudulent activities, alleged corruption, and unethical conduct, continue to highlight the importance of public vigilance in combating economic crimes,” he said.
Shidhudhu added that the reports were submitted via the whistleblower hotline, email, and website, demonstrating consistent utilisation of our multiple reporting channels.
“ Since April 2025, NamRA has successfully recovered N$2.3 million in anti-dumping duties, bringing the total recovery to N$5.7 million from assessments raised. Risk assessments have been completed for numerous cases, with high-risk matters already integrated into our audit plan and under active investigation,” he said.
He said the agency encourages members of the public to continue making use of the whistleblower platform.
Shidhudhu said the reports play a vital role in safeguarding national revenue and promoting accountability.
“All reports are treated with the utmost confidentiality, and NamRA remains committed to acting decisively on verified information,” he said
