The Namibia Statistics Agency says the economy has expanded by about N$4 billion in the last quarter of this year.
This indicates a 1.9% growth .
“The domestic economy during the third quarter of 2025 grew by 1.9 percent compared to a 2.1 percent growth registered in the same period of 2024. In nominal terms, the size of the economy for the period under review expanded to N$66.4 billion from N$62.6 billion recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2024,” said Statistician General Alex Shimuafeni during the announcement of the third quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures on Thursday.
Shimuafeni attributed the growth to growth in the tertiary industries that recorded a growth of 4.1 % compared to a 6.1 % recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
“Tertiary industries were driven by sectors of ‘Wholesale and retail trade’
(5.5% compared to 11.7%), Education (4.9% from 2.7%) and ‘Public
administration and defence’ (3.1% in comparison to 4.8%),” Shimuafeni said.
