THE Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has made a bold move to achieve 100 percent radio and television broadcast access country wide.
This follows the signing of the N$121 million contract with Intelsat Ventures by the Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) on behalf of the national broadcaster on Thursday.
The contract brings to fruition the implementation of Direct-To-Home (DTH) Transmission Services.

Speaking at the event, NBC Director-General, Stanley Similo, described the occasion as “a very profound day in the history of NBC and, by extension, Namibia.”
He emphasized that the DTH project aims to increase national coverage from the current 74.5% for television and 78% for radio to 100%.
“What DTH does is that it gives immediate, direct coverage to the entire country. This is a significant milestone that Namibia is witnessing today. Within six to seven months, Namibians across all corners of the country will be able to experience improved access to national radio and television services,” Mr. Similo stated
