MORE than N$2.08 billion in potential investments has been committed in the Namibia Green Hydrogen sector, Head of the Namibian Green Hydrogen Programme, James Mnyupe has said.
He said the over 800 Namibians have been employed across pilot and early-stage initiatives while close to N$170 million has been channeled to local Small to Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

He was speaking at the launch of forthcoming Green Hydrogen summit slated for September.
He said the commitments demonstrate early traction in value chain localization and inclusive growth.

“Feasibility Studies and Strategic Insights
The NGH2P successfully mobilized N$2.5 million to conduct three pre-feasibility studies, each aligned with
long-term green industrialization goals. These studies have now been completed, and a structured
framework is being developed to operationalise their findings,” Mnyupe said.

According to Mnyupe 183 scholarships have been awarded to Namibian youth in fields aligned to the green industrialization about N$23 million has been allocated to capacity-building initiatives in the Hardap and Kharas region
“A study confirmed that establishing an ammonia and fertilizer production facility near Neckartal Dam is feasible and aligned with the dam’s original agricultural intent. This presents a unique opportunity to integrate green hydrogen with food systems and value addition in the agri-sector,” he said.
