NAMIBIA remains an attractive tourist destination for American potential travelers despite being put on level 2 travel advisory late last year.
The United State of America in Namibia’s Acting Public Affairs Officer, Rachelle Duck released a statement on Thursday affirming their citizen’s love for visiting Namibia-an African tourism hive that receives millions of visitors annually.
Dick said said Namibia is not affected by the latest travel warning released by the Donald Trump administration this month.
“The U.S. Embassy in Windhoek reaffirms its strong bilateral partnership with the Republic of Namibia and takes this opportunity to provide clarity regarding recent updates to U.S. visa policy and the existing travel advisory for Namibia.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and mutual understanding, we wish to offer context around the current Level 2 Travel Advisory and confirm that Namibians are not affected by the June 9, 2025, proclamation restricting entry to nationals of select countries,” the statement said.
The statement puts to rest confusion that Namibia might have been slapped with another travel advisory by the Trump administration this year.
Dick said the U.S. government issues a new travel advisory for every country in the world every year.
“The current Level 2 Travel Advisory for Namibia was renewed on December 23, 2024. Despite recent mentions in local media, the overall advisory level has remained unchanged since 2023. The advisory recommends travelers “exercise increased caution” due to health and crime considerations,” Duck added.
Duck said Namibia’s current advisory level is common among many countries globally, including countries such as Rachelle Duck, Acting Public Affairs Officer UK, France, and Germany.
Then American Embassy official said the advisory serves as general guidance to help travelers make informed decisions related to the risks of international travel.
“ It does not restrict travel or visa processing and should not be interpreted as a punitive measure. Namibia remains a welcoming destination for American
travelers, and bilateral travel between our countries continues,” she said.
She explained that President Trump announced that nationals of certain countries would be restricted from entering the United States as of June 9, 2025, as a result of those countries’ national security and public safety deficiencies.
The embassy underscores that Namibia is not included in this proclamation by Trump.
“The United States values its people-to-people ties with Namibia, and Namibians who follow U.S. immigration rules continue to be welcomed as visitors, students, and business travelers.
“The Embassy remains open. We are focused on protecting our nation and our citizens and are committed to facilitating legitimate travel to the United States in accordance with U.S. law and policy.
We value continued U.S.-Namibia engagement and remain committed to strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation across a range of shared priorities,” Duck said.
