Namibia has taken a bold step in showing the world that is serious about attracting investors.

On Monday the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB)  launched an  investment guide – a document that gives the ins and outs of the investment climate in the country , guidelines on  starting and operating a business in Namibia, immigration and labour Regulations, tax laws in Namibia , banking and foreign currency regulations and Land Regulations and Access.

The guide is available on the board’s website and will be distributed across all embassies world wide- making sure that any person keen to bring their money to Namibia has enough information at their finger tips.

The NIPDB says they will go ahead and create a QR code that will be given to most Airport transfer tours to make sure that visitors and potential investors will be able to read this information at their fingertips.

This is quite commendable and shows seriousness on the part of the government to attract capital and create the much needed jobs.

At face value this might seem like a simple issue but information is vital to anyone who wants to spend their money.

It allows investors to make informed decisions , knowing that the country has some commendable policy consistency and stability.

While such documents will need  to be updated with time bearing in mind the ever changing needs that come with it,  to actually start and have a document available  is commendable.

Perhaps this is a moment to cherish for the NIPDB.

The future can only be better and they have every opportunity to build on such.

The development of an investor guide is far much better than lining up several conferences that eventually turn into talk shows.

It is a serious move that is tangible and will see Namibia separating itself from investment destination pretenders to a serious one that  knows the vitality of information.

It would be cumbersome for someone to rely on random information on the internet , especially this era of disinformation.

The fact that a government agency is taking the initiative to share information when it’s needed shows great progress.

Many counties have walked the road before but failed because there is not much about them on the internet.

It is even better if the country can also take advantage to advertise itself on major international news platforms.

India has done it successfully through the incredible India advertorial that runs on CNN and BBC.

Rwanda has fgioen the extra mile and sponsored Arsenal football club with their visit Rwanda campaing.

While this is the begining , it surely must be  the beginning of even more biger things to come.

The world we are living in is competitive and we must go out of our way to prove our seriousness to sell ourselves to the world.

Kudos the the brains behind such an initiative and may they continue to do more.
