About 800 delegates are expected to attend the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) Global Policy Forum (GPF) 2025 to be hosted by  the Bank of Namibia in a week.

Central Bank Acting Deputy Director: Corporate Communications and Sustainability, Naufiku Hamunime the Forum said in a statement released on Thursday that the forum will be convened under the theme “Empowering Society, Enabling Growth,”.

According to Hamunime the AFI GPF comes at a pivotal time for Namibia’s financial sector. 

In July the Bank of Namibia, jointly with the Ministry of Finance and the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA), launched the Namibia Financial Sector Transformation Strategy (NFSTS), which sets out a roadmap for a resilient, inclusive and modern financial system that serves the development of all Namibians and economy. 

The Bank also unveiled its Financial Inclusion awareness campaign, designed to improve the understanding, accessibility and usage of financial services by all Namibians and residents. 

Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia,Leonie Dunn said the forum will provide Namibia and the region an opportunity to accelerate financial inclusion.

 “The AFI GPF offers Namibia and the wider region a necessary and opportune platform to accelerate financial inclusion efforts. The Bank of Namibia is proud to align this event with our recently launched Namibia 

“Financial Sector Transformation Strategy and financial inclusion awareness campaign, as both seek to broaden access, empower vulnerable

and marginalised groups and ensure that growth is shared equitably across society. PublicThe partnerships we have forged for this event underline our collective commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive financial future,”Dunn said

The Bank of Namibia will also partner with other institutions to make the forum a success.
