The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform will spend about N$5 million to empower 2000 small scale poultry producers in all 14 Regions in the 2025/26 financial year.
The Poultry Value Chain Development Scheme (PVCDS) is aimed at bettering poultry production, income generation, and employment.
According to the statement issued by the ministry PVCDS received an allocation of N$5 million during the 2025/26 financial year.
“A total of Five million and forty thousand Namibian dollars (N$5 040 00.00) will be transferred to the implementing Regional Councils for the processing of subsidized inputs and services as well as capacity building of farmers and staff.” the statement said.
The ministry said the implementing Regional Council will be responsible for the payment of service providers based on memorandum and understanding between the Ministry and Regional Council.
The ministry added that those that qualify should be Namibian citizens, while poultry producers with less than 100 layers, and producers should partner with fellow farmers.
The ministry said the programme will prioritize women, youth, and people living with disabilities.
