About 150 dairy producers across Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Hardap, Oshikoto, and Zambezi regions will benefit from the N$6 million availed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform to drive Dairy Value Chain Scheme (DVCS) for 2025/26 financial years.
The DVCS are aimed at transforming Namibia’s dairy sector into a self -sustaining industry.
According to a statement released by the ministry N$6 million is budgeted for the scheme, which targets 150 dairy producers across Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Hardap, Oshikoto, and Zambezi regions.
The ministry said they will offer subsidies of up to 65% on livestock, feed, veterinary services and essential equipment to support the farmers.
“The maximum subsidy per beneficiary per anum for the Dairy development (cattle) is N$200 000.00 and N$100 000.00 for the Dairy development (goats),”the statement said
The ministry encouraged Producers to register for the programme.
They said those who will benefit should be Namibian citizens. The program’s first priority will be women, youth, marginalized, and people living with disabilities.
The Scheme also aims to reduce dairy imports, boost nutrition security, and also create job opportunities.
The ministry said Regional Councils will manage implementation, with strict verification processes.
