Chairman of the Bank BIC  Board of Directors,  Jaime Pedro Galhóz Pereira says the appointment of Etrastas Hoveka as the Chief Executive Officer will go a long way in strategically positioning the bank in the Namibian market.

With his strategic foresight, operational leadership and deep understanding of the Namibian financial ecosystem, we are confident that Bank BIC is exceptionally positioned to deliver sustainable growth, enhanced shareholder value and meaningful impact for our clients and communities, ” Perera said in a statement released by the bank last week.

Hoveka  appointment is effective from 2 February 2026. 

The bank, said Hoveka, brings to Bank BIC Namibia a distinguished track record of strategic leadership, deep and wide financial acumen anchored on people development and customer-centricity as drivers of corporate excellence and national development.

Hoveka is highly regarded as one of Namibia’s impactful leaders in the banking industry. He holds an MBA (Distinction) from Bradley University, USA, complementing his professional credentials as a Certified Public Accountant. He attended Executive Programs at prestigious business schools namely Wharton (Housing Finance) and INSEAD in France (Strategic Banking Management).

Prior to his appointment Hoveka served as Managing Director of Nedbank Namibia, where he led the institution through a period of strategic growth, operational resilience and enhanced community engagement. His tenure was marked by key initiatives that strengthened financial inclusion and deepened client-centric service delivery across retail, corporate and investment banking segments.

Bank BIC Namibia also announced the appointment of two new Non-Executive Board Members who are Willem Marais and Anne Shilengudwa, who will serve on the Bank BIC Board with immediate effect. 

Both appointees bring a wealth of experience, diverse perspectives and proven leadership across finance, governance and institutional development. Their addition further strengthens the Board’s collective expertise and reinforces Bank BIC Namibia’s focus on sound governance, strategic growth and long-term sustainability.
